Robb St larceny accused walks after witnesses fail to attend court

A simple larceny accused heard that the charge against him was dismissed yesterday after witnesses repeatedly failed to show up for the proceedings.

The charge stated that on July 10th, at Robb Street, Bourda, Mark Boodhoo stole cash and articles amounting to a total of $249,500.

Boodhoo had pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was first read to him and on Thursday, he was quick to remind Magistrate Dylon Bess that he had been promised at the last court hearing that if no witnesses in the matter made an appearance, the matter would be dismissed.

The hearing was the fifth for the case. The first time the matter was called, the virtual complainant was present while Boodhoo was not and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He has been the only person involved in the matter to be present for the hearings ever since.

The magistrate took this into consideration as he dismissed the matter due to the lack of evidence. Boodhoo was released and instructed that he was now freed of the charge. However, conditions were applied to ensure that Boodhoo does not find himself involved in any similar matters with the law.

Boodhoo, who told the court that he is a taxi driver, was given a curfew, which requires him to stay off the streets between 7 pm and 6 am every day for the next three months.

Boodhoo gladly accepted the condition as he walked out of the court a free man.
