Cops awaiting legal advice on Region Two Vice Chairman complaint

The Guyana Police Force is awaiting legal advice on the way forward on the alleged assault committed on Regional Vice Chairperson Nandranie Coonjah  by Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) Regional Executive Officer (REO) Denis Jaikarran.

This is according to Acting Commander of ‘G’ Division Crystal Robinson who informed Stabroek News yesterday that the case file which was dispatched for legal advice last week, had not been returned to the police up to yesterday afternoon.

Robinson had previously said that the incident which occurred last Tuesday was reported to the Anna Regina Police Station after which an investigation was immediately launched.

During the probe, both parties were questioned.

Details surrounding the incident remain sketchy.

However, Stabroek News understands that Coonjah alleged that she was struck on her shoulder by Jaikarran.

The incident occurred following a disturbance at the monthly statutory meeting which was held in the Regional Democratic Council boardroom.
