Trophy Stall sponsorship for Wakenaam T20 competition

A T20 cricket competition organized by the Wakenaam Cricket Committee with sponsorship from the Trophy Stall, is set to commence Sunday.

The sponsorship was received by Nazeer Mohammed last Friday during a simple ceremony at the Trophy Stall’s Bourda Market location.

Proprietor of Trophy Stall, Ramesh Sunich expressed his enthusiasm and said that he was optimistic about the tournament’s contribution towards the development of cricket in Essequibo.

He wished the teams well and urged the players to put their best foot forward.

Secretary of the Wakenaam Cricket Committee, Nazeer Mohamed expressed gratitude to Sunich and said that the tournament will commence Sunday at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground.

Mohamed explained that sponsorship was important for the development of the game and called on other businesses for support as the committee strives to give the players much exposure.

The teams will be divided into two groups with the top two teams from each group going through to the semifinals.

The competition will feature seven teams namely, Good Success, Sans Souci, Sans Souci Jaguars, G Square Cavaliers, Noitgedacht SC, Zeelandia and Maria’s Pleasure.
