The father of a little girl who survived severe burns about her body several years ago is seeking donations to fund further treatment for her abroad.

Ranie Rogers was just 18 months old when she suffered third degree burns to her head and right side face and arms, after a flaming kerosene stove fell on her while in the kitchen of her Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara home.

The incident occurred in May of 2014, when her mother was cooking in the kitchen and was unaware of the young girl creeping up to the stove, which, to her mother’s understanding, must have fallen on her after she tiptoed to see what the noise from the pressure pot was.

It was reported that little Ranie was immediately rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital after her mother saw her hair on fire. She was then taken abroad where she underwent a number of surgeries which would have aided in the betterment of her young life.

Now six-years-old, Ranie still needs more treatment for the damage caused. Her father, Rol Rogers, who sought aid from the Saving Hands Emergency Aid (SHEA) charity when his daughter first started treatment, told Stabroek News that he is no longer connected with the agency. SHEA had been helping with acquiring funds to cover Ranie’s expenses for medical treatment abroad. Rogers explained that he is seeking donations or sponsorship from persons kind enough to help with the expenses he faces when abroad with his daughter. Ranie is expected to undergo a number of surgeries in the United States of America, which will be done at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Texas. She is set to undergo the surgeries starting from November 1st, 2019 until May 2020. Her father was informed that the remaining surgeries are necessary since she could suffer from tumours, cancer and a list of other health hazards if she does not receive further treatment.

Her father, who is a contractor and who has been doing everything in his power to take care of his daughter, says that it would be greatly appreciated if generous persons could make any financial donation or be a sponsor for his daughter so that she can complete her surgeries. In doing so, persons would be helping in giving a little girl a normal life again.

An account has been set up with Republic Bank to where persons can send donations. It is: Account number 1030980. Persons can contact Rol Rogers on telephone number +592 675 0076.
