A new full service freight forwarder, logistics and consolidation company, Cargo Consolidators Agency Guyana Inc. (CCA Guyana Inc.) was launched on Friday evening.

Although the company is a subsidiary of Cargo Consolidators Agency Ltd, a Trinidadian family-owned company founded in 1976 and which offers services such as logistics management, freight forwarding, it is staffed by a team of Guyanese professionals.

According to Sean Patience, Managing Director of the company, the years of experience which the company has were utilized to train the Guyanese team in catering to the demands of the oil and gas companies.

President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) Nicholas Deygoo-Boyer, who also spoke at the launch, stated that there is a growing need for companies like CCA to bring the experience in the oil and gas industry.

Deygoo-Boyer added that during talks prior to the launch, company executives spoke of their excitement about the market and the amount of locals that they would be hiring. He noted that it is a good example of when CARICOM relationships work well. “It would be foolhardy for us to think that we can ignore Trinidad and look at other markets, such as Canada, the US and other parts of the west and just overlook our brothers and sisters,” Deygoo-Boyer said, while noting that it would be much easier for local staff to be trained in Trinidad than the western countries.

Minister of Public Infrastructure David Patterson also remarked that partnerships with other Caribbean/CARICOM countries are necessary. “If we are going to have partners, [there is] no better partner to have than your Caribbean partner,” he said.

While noting that the possibilities are endless, the minister said that Guyana has now become the top business destination in the Caribbean. “The Government of Guyana remains committed to port development for safe and reliable air freight cargo by the shipping sector,” he said.

The minister also said that while the countries may have disagreements over certain things, Guyana and Trinidad always band together whenever there is an emergency in the region. “You have a lot of experience in the oil and gas industry and we do hope that you can transfer to us” Patterson said.

The subsidiary’s operations will be based at a New Market Street, Georgetown office. Apart from Trinidad and now Guyana, the company also has a branch in Miami.
