Jamaul John romps to yet another victory

Jamaul John continues to show sublime late season form. Six days after sprinting away with the Victor Macedo Memorial Road Race title outside the National Park, the Team Coco’s wheelsman took his talents inside the Park yesterday and took the spoils of the feature 35-lap event of the Laparkan Holdings multi race programme.

Prince finishes sixth in 800m heat

Guyana’s medal hopes at the IAAF World Championships currently underway in Doha, Qatar were dashed again after 800m runner, Quamel Prince, finished sixth of eight in heat five yesterday at the Khalifa International Stadium, Doha, Qatar.

Beware the over-mighty state

DOHA, (Reuters) – American Christian Coleman scorched to the 100 metres world championship gold medal yesterday but the crowning of the world’s fastest man could generate no more buzz than the air conditioning in a half-empty Khalifa Stadium.

Cevons seeking to gain foothold in oil and gas waste disposal

With a number of foreign oil and gas companies seeking environmental control and waste service providers for their operations here, local firm Cevons Waste Management Inc is moving to position itself to meet their needs while also advocating for national policy to include provisions to aid those that lack industry experience.

The Lucas Stock Index (LSI) declined 1.54% during the fourth period of trading in September 2019.  The stocks of seven companies were traded, with 161,767 shares changing hands.  There were no Climbers and two Tumblers. The stocks of Banks DIH Limited (DIH) declined 6.46% on the sale of 85,069 shares and the stocks of Republic Bank Limited (RBL) declined 0.03% on the sale of 51,913 shares. In the meanwhile, the stocks of the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), the Demerara Bank Limited (DBL), Sterling Products Limited (SPL), the Guyana Bank for Trade & Industry Limited (BTI) and the Demerara Tobacco Company (DTC), remained unchanged on the sale of 21,152 shares, 1,500 shares, 1,000 shares, 723 shares, and 410 shares, respectively. The LSI closed at 577.49.
