(Jamaica Observer) People’s National Party (PNP) President Peter Phillips is expressing sadness at the death of former west central St James Member of Parliament (MP) Patrick Rosegreen.

According to Phillips, Rosegreen died yesterday after a long period of illness.

“He was a MP who represented the people of West Central St James with enthusiasm and integrity, and always spoke up strongly on issues affecting the poor. He was a man with a vibrant personality who would go beyond the call for duty in service to his family, his country and his party.

“For Patrick, illness was not an excuse, his was always a positive response to his constituents, his party or his country. For many, he was a friend who was like family,” Phillips said in a press release today.

The late MP, who also served as councillor in the St James Parish Council representing the Spring Gardens Division between 1986 and 1989, was elected to the Lower House in 1989 and held the seat for two terms until 1997.
