Ahead of two very important encounters in four days in the CONCACAF Nations League, Head Coach of the Golden Jaguars, Márcio Máximo, has released the names of players making up his 22-man squad that takes on Antigua and Barbuda tomorrow at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium and on Monday here at the Leonora National Track & Field Centre.

Boasting a balance of local and overseas-based players, the Golden Jaguars will be aiming for back-to-back wins in their quest to further consolidate their current second place in Group C of League B.

The Golden Jaguars are on three points, the same as their opponent but with a superior goal difference of three to Antigua and Barbuda’s five.

The local players have been going through their paces with Head of Sports Science Wilson Toledo and Head Coach Máximo ever since Guyana’s 0-4 loss to Jamaica, in order to be fit and ready to claim full points in both matches.

The players and staff, who would be sporting the new official uniform, apparel and equipment from the recently signed deal with Capelli Sports, arrived in the Land of the ‘Benna Boys’ on Tuesday.  Head Coach Máximo said they already had a session on Tuesday afternoon and are prepared for a physical encounter against the host.

“For me the team is coming good; after we arrived we had a good session with the players on Tuesday and we also trained on Wednesday and I think that they have all held well so far and are focused on the task.  They understand our tactical approach for this game.  Antigua is a very physical team and we should be smart to use our strategy well to win the game. We are very optimistic as we look forward to our international players blending well with the local players to do us well; I think we can take a win on Friday,” said the Head Coach.

Recalled to the team are Goalkeeper Sese Norville, Defenders Kadell Daniel and Kevin Dundas, Midfielder Elliot Bonds along with Forwards Trayon Bobb and Emery Welshman.

Guyana will face the home team from 17:00hrs tomorrow at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium and return to these shores on Saturday ahead on Monday’s return match against the Antiguans at the Leonora National Track & Field Center from 20:00hrs.
