Conquerors, Santos captains expect competitive final

With the less than five days before the grand finale of the Limacol Football Championship, the competing captains of Fruta Conquerors U20 and Santos U20 disclosed that they envision a highly competitive matchup.

The matchup which is slated for Sunday at the Ministry of Education ground, will be the first ever final contested by youth teams at a senior championship in Georgetown.

Both teams earned their place in the final following penalty shoot-out wins. Fruta Conquerors defeated Riddim Squad while Santos prevailed over Pele. The final will be staged at 21:00hrs.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference held at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, Marcus Wilson, captain of Santos stated, “We know it won’t be an easy match. We know the last time we won it against them and we cannot allow it to change.”

Meanwhile, Nicholas MacArthur echoed the sentiments of his opposing number, adding that the team will have at their potential if they are to emerge victorious.

Winner of the event will collect $400,000, with the runner-up pocketing $100,000. The third and fourth place finisher will receive $100,000 and $50,000 respectively. Prior to the final, the third place playoff will be staged at 19:00hrs.0
