Pit-bulls crowned 3×3 basketball champions

Pit-bulls 3.0 was crowned the inaugural Rawle Toney/Mackeson 3×3 Basketball Champion, defeating Smooth on Sunday at the Burnham Court, Middle and Carmichael streets.

A brilliant showing from eventual Most Valuable Player (MVP) awardee Ryan Stephney propelled Pit-bulls to a commanding 22-12 win.

Stephney tallied 16 points in the final to secure the winners package of $300,000, the corresponding accolade and replicas. On the individual side, Stephney walked away with the MVP prize of $25,000 sponsored by Fireside Grill.

He was also presented with the Andre Ifill trophy compliments of Fireside Grill, which was named after the late great Guyanese international.

The other members of winning team were Ryan Gullen, Jermin Slater and Travis Belgrave. For the loser, they received the second place trophy and $100,000.

In the third place playoff, Plaisance Ballers  battled past Ion Know 22-20. For their showing, Plaisance copped $50,000 and a trophy.

In the earlier semifinal round, Pit-bulls defeated Plaisance Ballers 15-6 while Smooth edged Ion Know 17-16.
