Cabinet has taken note of a series of contract awards by procurement agencies which include $215.1m and $208.5m for police divisional headquarters at Anna Regina and Mabaruma respectively and $137m for the rehabilitation of the Lethem aerodrome.
The awards of these major contracts under the caretaker administration will likely raise ongoing questions as the government fell via a motion of no confidence on December 21, 2018.

The Ministry of the Presidency release said that it should be recalled that the Guyana Police Force had announced the restructuring of its administrative system so that every administrative region in Guyana would be a Division of the Guyana Police Force. In the case of Region 4 Demerara – Mahaica, there would be three Divisions – (A) Agricola to Cummings Lodge, (B) Eccles to Moblissa and (C) Industry to West of the Mahaica Bridge.
“These contracts therefore are for the rehabilitation and up-grade of Divisional Headquarters in Regions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 to enable the newly appointed Regional Commanders and Deputy Commanders to be physically present in their respective Divisions with adequate space and facilities to function efficiently”, the release said.
