The trial of Lolita Callendar, known as ‘Lola Doll,’ for the alleged assault of fellow cosmetologist Onika Pompey, is expected to restart in December in a city court after she made the decision against compensating the woman for the injuries she suffered during a fight.

At a previous court hearing, Pompey told the court she was willing to accept $800,000 in compensation for injuries she sustained and materials that were damaged during the fight.

During yesterday’s court hearing, Callendar told the court that she does not have a cent to give to Pompey because she is a single mother and has to take care of her children. Callendar further informed the court that since her incarceration in the British Virgin Islands, her business has suffered and as a result she did not have money.

Pompey then suggested that they work together, while noting that Callendar has a lot of followers on social media. However, Callendar was against the idea and said, “I don’t want to go into business with Onika because we does fall out over money. Whatever the court decides, that’s it.”

Pompey then complained to the magistrate about the presence of the reporters in the courtroom, who, according to her “are spreading rumours.” She said during the last hearing, she would have mentioned a number of reasons why she wanted that $800,000 in compensation but the reporters twisted the story and said that she wanted all the money for her hair.

Pompey said during the incident she sustained numerous injuries and some of the material she used for her work was damaged.  The magistrate adjourned the matter until December 6th, when the video of the fight is to be shown to the court.

The charge against Callendar states that she inflicted grievous bodily harm on Pompey on April 6th, 2018, at Leopold Street. Callendar had pleaded not guilty to the charge. At that time, Pompey, of Barima Avenue, Bel Air Park, was also charged with unlawfully wounding Callendar on the same day and at the same location. That charge was dismissed.
