Elton Dharry will face Australian Andrew Moloney in the latter’s backyard tonight for the vacant interim World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Flyweight title. It is Dharry’s toughest test to date but one the likeable 33-year-old is ready to grasp with both hands.

In anticipation of the Margaret Court Arena, Melbourne showdown, Stabroek Sport put together a build-up guide to both the Guyanese and Australian. The in-depth tale of the tape is below.

Elton Dharry

The younger Moloney has an impeccable record but the undefeated fighter is also less experienced in the professional arena than Dharry, who is five years older.  It is noteworthy that Dharry’s five losses occurred in the very early part of his career; he has won his last 21 consecutive fights. Moloney started his career in 2014 while Dharry started his 10 years earlier and has not tasted defeat since 2009.

Both fighter’s respective heights and reach are almost identical and both boxers are of an orthodox stance but their styles are considerably different. Dharry is a uniquely talented boxer while the ‘Monster’ likes to brawl and is quite powerful in both hands. Styles make fights and it will be interesting to see tonight’s matchup.

Note: According to the Guyana Boxing Board of Control, locals would be able to view the fight Down Under via the ESPN Plus app. Melbourne, Australia is 15 hours ahead of local time.
