A six year-old girl is now dead after she was struck by a car along the Farm, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) Public Road yesterday afternoon.
The child has been identified as Felicia Richards, of Lot 4 Farm Railway Embankment, EBE.
Commander of Region Three Simon Mc Bean told Sunday Stabroek last evening that police enquiries revealed that the child was crossing the road when she was hit by the car, which carried licence plate PRR 7918. After hitting the child, the driver stopped and rushed her to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. The driver was taken into custody by police.
