Man shot dead at Curepe gyro stall

(Trinidad Guardian) A 26-year-old man from El Dorado was shot and killed while purchasing a meal in Curepe, early yesterday.

According to reports, around 6 am, Justin Jeetam, of Boodoo Street, El Dorado, was waiting outside of Sami’s Gyros, located along the Southern Main Road in Curepe, to collect his order when a gunman shot him several times.

As Jeetam’s friends and fellow customers rushed to his assistance, the gunman ran away.

The former Fatima College student was taken to the Eric Williams Medi-cal Sciences Complex in Mt Hope but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Homicide detectives are investigating whether Jeetam was followed to the location as the gunman did not rob him, the business or any of the patrons.

Many of Jeetam’s friends took to social media to send condolences to his family.

On its Facebook page, the El Dorado Village Council stated: “Very sad news, condolences to the family and friends of one of our youths. RIP Justin!!! When will the crime stop, you can’t even go peacefully to purchase a meal.”

“RIP my friend. My schoolmate, I will always remember the memories we had. Man with d starchest creased collar in Fatima College. RIP my bro. From the almighty we came and to him is our eventual return,” Arnim Mohammed said in his comment on the post.

Jeetam’s murder comes a little over three months after, 34-year-old doubles vendor Sharzard “Shazo” Manick was murdered at his stand, located a short distance away in the area, known for late-night eateries.
