Three men yesterday faced separate charges of unlawful possession of guns and ammunition and were remanded to prison when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. The charges were laid following a raid by the police in Agricola.

It is alleged that Gregory Boyce on November 21st at 69 Remus Street, Agricola, had in his possession a .32 pistol, three .32 7.65mm live rounds of ammunition, six 7.6 live rounds of ammunition and seven .32 rounds of automatic ammunition when he was not the lawful holder of a firearm licence in force at the time.

It is also alleged that on the same date at Lot 80 Brutus Street, Agricola, Eson Gibson, 19, had in his possession a .38 pistol along with three .380 live rounds of ammunition while not being the holder of a firearm licence in force at the time.

Lastly, Keanu Heyliger, 19, was charged with having a .32 Taurus revolver, as well as five 7.658 live rounds of ammunition and a .32 live round of ammunition in his possession at Remus Street, Agricola on the day of the bust, while he was not the holder of a firearm licence in force at the time.

Each of the three men denied the charge which was read to them by Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty.

According to Police Prosecutor Seon Blackman, the three men were separately arrested after police ranks carried out a raid in the area. They had been acting on information when they approached the three men, conducted a search and later arrested them after finding the items mentioned.

Attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat represented Heyliger and told the court that his client, who is a mason, was not in possession of any of the items mentioned in the charge at the time of his arrest. He added that when his client was arrested, he had been awoken by the police who went to his home at Lot 89 Second Street, Agricola, EBD. Fung-A-Fat said that the alleged firearm was found at First Street, Agricola, when three men and a woman were arrested. He said that after his client was arrested, the gun was shown to him.

After listening to the two sides, the magistrate remanded the men and adjourned the three matters until December 4th.
