With several local business houses already preoccupied with better positioning themselves to take advantage of the anticipated transformational changes in the Guyana economy, Floor It Guyana, a subsidiary of the privately-owned Cummings Wood Products (CWP), is moving to consolidate market awareness of its presence and of the products that it has to offer by creating a new Georgetown showroom on North Road, between Camp and Wellington streets. The new showroom will be launched later today.

CWP was itself created in 2008 with the objective of broadening the base of already existing Guyanese wood products access to Caribbean markets for hardwood offerings including decking, structural timber and other exotic lumber species. In launching its new showroom the company is moving to further raise awareness of its physical presence beyond its Lots 1&2 Caledonia, East Bank Demerara operations.

Visitors to the Floor It, East Bank, operations have attested to the attractiveness of its products and its market appeal is further manifested in the successful extension of its brand footprint outside of Guyana. Having arrested local attention and continually expanded its market share in Guyana, Floor It has shifted gears, employing what its proprietor says is “a vision for geographic expansion and an unrelenting desire to ensure the Floor It brand becomes a shared experience across the Caribbean.”

Accordingly, it has established Floor It Jamaica, “a new green field distributorship operation” located in the Jamaican capital, Kingston. The Jamaica subsidiary includes a spacious showroom and warehouse facility which Cummings says is “positioned to adequately serve target markets in Jamaica.” In a recent comment Cummings told Stabroek Business that the recent Jamaica investment is proving to be a prudent move and a “profound success story.” That success, he says, “aligns with the company’s multinational and export expansion plan and gives fresh confidence to a strategic vision of setting up operations throughout the breath and reach of the Caribbean.”

Locally, Cummings told Stabroek Business, the company’s market coverage and share continue to grow rapidly, an accomplishment which, he says, is “a direct result of continually improving the competitive dimensions of its products and services offerings.” Floor It Guyana, Cummings says, is acutely aware of the fact that if it is to sustain a “leading brand presence in major market segments” across the country, it must establish “strong product visibility and the opportunity for direct engagement with valued customers.” Today’s showroom launch, Cummings says, bears testimony to this belief as it will serve as an exhibition hub in the heart of Region Four where patrons and clients will have a unique touch point experience with elegance.
