Sunrise, Lusignan Sports Club crowned champions

Lusignan Sports Club and Sunrise were crowned the male and female champions respectively when the 6th Annual Dave and Celina’s softball cricket competition ended Sunday.

Staged at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground, Linden, Lusignan Sports Club defeated Rohan’s Auto Spares by five wickets. Asked to bat first, Rohan’s Auto Spares scored 69-8 from their allotted eight overs.

Lusignan Sports Club in reply romped to 75-5 frpm five overs to secure the title. With the win, Lusignan walked away with $300,000 and a trophy and Rohan’s Auto Spares $100,000 and the corresponding accolade. South Stars copped the third place position and $70,000.

In the women’s final, Sunrise dethroned 2018 champions Aroaima Warriors by 15 runs. Batting first, Sunrise stormed to 90-3 from their allotted eight overs. In reply, Aroaima were restricted to 75-5.  Sunrise pocketed $300,000 and a trophy, while the losers received $50,000 and a trophy. The third place trophy and prize of $30,000 went to Coomacka Blazing Fire.
