Bandits steal SUV after robbing Bel Air family

The police are on the hunt for two bandits who allegedly attacked and robbed a civil engineer and his family shortly after they had returned to their Bel Air Village home on Tuesday evening before escaping with his Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

Stabroek News was reliably informed that the robbery took place around 9 pm at Lot 50 Bel Air, Georgetown during which Travis Bridgemohan, his wife, Ayenay Mendoza and another relative were relieved of their cellphones, a quantity of cash and other valuables.

The crime was allegedly committed by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

The family had reportedly just returned home after visiting a supermarket on Sherriff Street.

Bridgemohan, Stabroek News was told, drove his vehicle into the yard, where he and the others were confronted by the bandits.

The armed bandit allegedly held Bridgemohan at gunpoint and demanded that he hand over his belongings while his accomplice relieved Mendoza and the other relieve of the valuables they had in their possession.

The bandits then escaped in Bridgemohan’s Nissan X trail vehicle, which carries licence plate PSS 6075.

An alarm was raised and the police were alerted. No arrest was made as of yesterday.

When Stabroek News visited the scene yesterday, the house where Bridgemohan and his family occupied was tightly secured and no one appeared to be at home.

Several security cameras were seen around the building.

It was observed that there is an empty lot next to Bridgemohan’s premises. It is suspected that the bandits might have been hiding there before they pounced on the family.
