Six persons are now in police custody assisting with the investigation of the robbery committed on an overseas-based couple during the wee hours of Tuesday morning at John’s Settlement, Corentyne.
Stabroek News was told that the couple were pounced upon by three bandits, armed with guns and cutlasses, shortly after they arrived home from the airport.
The bandits, who were reportedly hiding in a neighbouring yard, rushed over to the couple.
They were able to cart off US$7,000, hand luggage and other items after assaulting the overseas-based man
Up to yesterday afternoon, police were still questioning the six persons in custody.
