Youth fined for slapping policewoman

Daniel Boutrim, who was recently charged with stabbing his sister and escaping lawful custody, was yesterday fined after he admitted to slapping a policewoman.

The 21-year-old man, of Lot 157 Guyhoc Park, was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty in Georgetown, where he was faced with four charges.

The first alleged that on December 9th, 2019, at the East La Penitence Police Station, he unlawfully assaulted Lance Corporal Ageday, so as to cause her actual body harm. It was also alleged that on the same date and at the same location, he made use of threatening behaviour toward Ageday, a peace officer acting in the execution of her duty.

Additionally, it was alleged that on December 9th, at Stevedore Housing Scheme, he assaulted Sharmaine Lamazon. Lastly is alleged that on the same date and at the same location, he unlawfully damaged windows, valued $12,000, which were the property of Lamazon.

Boucher admitted to the first charge and afterwards apologised for assaulting the officer. “Mums, I sorry for duh. I push she but I sorry,” he told the magistrate. The unrepresented man denied the other charges. He said that the windows were damaged because he was bracing on them.

However, according to the police prosecutor, on the day in question, Boutrim was arrested following a report that an individual was trying to kill a woman. It was reported that a party of police officers were summoned to the home of the woman.

After he was arrested and taken to the East La Penitence Police Station, Ageday tried to get him to sit on the prisoner’s bench. It was at this point that he pushed her and slapped her.

Boutrim responded to this by saying that he got upset because the officers kept pushing and kicking him. He said that he got upset but added that he was sorry for slapping the rank.

After listening to the prosecutor and Boutrim’s apology, the Magistrate fined Boucher $20,000, for assault of the police officer and granted him $10,000 bail each for the threatening language and remaining assault charges. He was also released on self-bail for the damage to property charge.
