Lodge Secondary dethrones Annandale, crowned champs

Lodge Secondary dethroned Annandale to be crowned the new GuyOil/Tradewind Tankers Secondary School Football League Champion yesterday at the National Training Center, Providence.

It was a historic performance from the Jamoon Street unit, who recorded the first ever perfect season in the competition’s history following their 1-0 victory.

With Lodge only requiring a draw to seal the coveted title, the contest was decided by what proved to be the fixture’s only conversion compliments of a Rasheed Evans effort in the 15th minute.

It was a timely finish from Evans who directed his powerful header into the back of the net, after latching onto a cross into the penalty area.

The two teams will now represent the Georgetown area in the KFC Goodwill Series which is set to commence on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Bishops’ High and President’s College battled to a scoreless draw in their respective final match.

With the result, the Bishops’ High ended their campaign on 15 points and in the fourth position, whilst President’s College finished their tournament in fifth place on 14 points.
