A jury yesterday found Bishnauth Mohamed not guilty of the rape of a five-year-old girl.

Mohamed was found not guilty of the charge that on September 30th, 2010, he engaged in sexual penetration of a child under the age of 16.

The unanimous verdict was handed down in the courtroom of Justice Jo-Ann Barlow in Georgetown.

Mohamed was represented by attorney Maxwell McKay, while the state’s case was prosecuted by Prosecutor Seeta Bishundial in association with Lisa Cave and Sarah Martin.

Justice Barlow told the accused that he was a very young man and should see the verdict as a blessing. She also encouraged him to remain on the right path.
