60-year-old larceny accused refused bail

A 60-year-old man was remanded to prison on Thursday after he was charged with simple larceny at a city court.

The charge, which was read by Magistrate Faith McGusty, alleges that on January 21st, 2019, at Bel Air Park, Mark Patterson, 60, stole articles, including an electrical multi-tester, amounting to $160,000 in total value.

Patterson pleaded not guilty to the charge but Police Prosecutor Seon Blackman objected to bail based on the fact that the articles were found in a backpack belonging to the accused and their total value.

As a result, Patterson was remanded to prison. He is scheduled to appear in court again on February 13th, 2019, for his next hearing.
