Kumaka bar owner claims self defence in stabbing of man

A Kumaka bar owner was yesterday charged with attempting to murder a man who remains hospitalised with life-threatening injuries.

Brenton Charles, 31, of Kumaka, North West District, was granted bail after his attorney told acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus that he acted in self defence after he was attacked by the claimed victim.

The magistrate read the charge to Charles during a hearing in Georgetown.

It is alleged that the accused on January 22nd, at Kumaka Market, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Kenrick Henry with the intent to commit murder.
