Constable who allegedly fled scene after fatal accident under close arrest

A police constable who has been identified as the rider of the motorcycle that was involved in the accident last Wednesday which claimed the life of pillion rider John Walcott along the Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara Public Road, is currently under close arrest.

Commander of ‘D’ Division Edmond Cooper told Sunday Stabroek that Constable Orin Parris, who is stationed at the Cove and John Police Station, East Coast Demerara and who allegedly fled the scene following the accident, remains under close arrest as the investigation continues.

The accident, which had occurred around 1.15 pm, claimed the life of 19-year-old Walcott, known as ‘Redman,’ a father of one, of Lot 3663 Westminster, West Bank Demerara.
