Mae’s to boost security following threats

The Mae’s School in Subryanville will be implementing increased security measures amid recent threats against the school on social media.

Stabroek News understands that the threats were made over the weekend and resulted in the disruption of classes on Monday.

According to statements made by the school on its Facebook page, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been contacted to investigate the threats and performed an inspection of the school’s premises, however no devices were found.

Notwithstanding, classes were cancelled for the day.

A second statement was issued by the school last evening which advised parents and students of increased security measures which will take the form of armed security and security screenings for all students, staff and visitors entering the school compound.
