Wanted bulletin issued over Capoey Mission murder

The police are seeking the assistance of the public in locating a teenager who is wanted in relation to the murder of 23-year-old Sherwin Melville, who was  stabbed at Capoey Mission, Essequibo Coast late last year.

In a wanted bulletin issued yesterday, the police said that Carl Welcome Jnr called “Ralph”, whose last known addresses are North West District and Swan, Soesdyke/Linden Highway is wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of Melville which occurred between the 16th and 17th December, 2018.

Stabroek News had previously reportedly that the police were summoned to the village after a relative discovered Melville’s lifeless body.

The discovery was made around 5pm on December 17 by Melville’s sister-in-law while she was on her way to use the washroom.

Reports had indicated that Melville and an individual suspected to be Welcome Jnr were drinking at his Capoey Lake home on the evening of Sunday, December 16, last.

The duo were subsequently left consuming alcohol along after family members had retired to bed.

It is suspected that during the course of the night an argument ensued between the two during which Melville was fatally stabbed. The suspect, who was a visitor in the indigenous community at the time, subsequently fled.

Melville body was taken to the Suddie Hospital mortuary where an autopsy later revealed that he died as a result of a stab wound sustained to his neck.
