Christianburg/Wismar defeated Lodge Secondary 1-0 on Sunday in the final of the Milo Secondary Schools football championships at the Ministry of Education ground.

Andre Mayers, the event’s eventual Most Valuable Player [MVP] and joint highest goal scorer alongside Lodge Secondary’s Dorwin George, recorded his 10th conversion in the 67th minute to seal the victory, following a scoreless opening half.

With the win, the Linden unit pocketed $500,000 towards a school project and the championship trophy, with the losing team collecting $300,000 towards a school initiative and a trophy.

 In the third place playoff, Annandale Secondary crushed President’s College 7-0. Colin Henriques tallied a hat-trick in the ninth, 57th and 79th minute, with Omari Glasgow adding a double in the fourth and 76th minute.

 With the result, Annandale walked away with $200,000 towards a school project and a trophy, while President’s College received the fourth place trophy and $100,000 for a school project.

On the individual side of the awards, Jonathon Copeland of Christianburg/Wismar walked away with the Best Goalkeeper trophy, while Leon Bishop of Lodge Secondary copped the Best Coach accolade.

 The Most Supportive Teacher and Parent awards went to Beverly Spencer of Lodge and Kim Stephens of President’s College respectively. On the other hand, Most Discipline Team title was awarded to Vergenoegen.
