Cocaine-filled fire extinguisher was intended to be placed on plane – CANU

The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Tuesday night found a fire extinguisher filled with cocaine that was intended to be placed on an aircraft and four men are in custody.

A statement from CANU today said that the men are expected to appear in the Providence Magistrate’s Court tomorrow. They are Dinesh Dias, Anthony Collins, Seenarine Mathura and Mohamed Inshan.

CANU said that a total of 1.890 kg of cocaine was found. The four suspects were intercepted at a house at Lot 26 Timehri, East Bank Demerara.

CANU said that the “suspected narcotic was unearthed concealed in a fire extinguisher believed to be destined for placement on an aircraft for an international destination at CJIA”.
