Youth dies after La Jalousie car accident

A Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo youth succumbed on Thursday morning to injuries he sustained  in an early morning vehicular accident.

Vickram Ramraj, called ‘Andy,’ 21, was travelling with friends in motor vehicle PSS 9367, which was proceeding east along the northern carriageway of the La Jalousie public road when the accident occurred. The vehicle was allegedly moving at a fast rate and the driver lost control and collided with a concrete fence, resulting in the vehicle turning turtle.

After the accident, the driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old man and another occupant, Nafeeza Abrahim, were rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. Ramraj was also taken to the hospital but was subsequently transferred to the George-town Public Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at about 5.15 am yesterday.
