Essequibo youth killed in motorcycle crash

A Richmond Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast resident is now dead after he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and crashed into a culvert on Saturday night.

According to the police, around 9:20 pm that day, 20-year-old Kishan Sankar of Lot 320 Richmond Housing Scheme was riding his motorcycle, CJ 2467, south along the eastern carriageway of School Street, Richmond Housing Scheme.

The police said that enquiries revealed that Sankar was riding at a fast rate when he lost control of the motorcycle, which subsequently hit a culvert on the western side of the street.

Sankar sustained serious injuries to his head and about his body and was picked up in an unconscious condition by public-spirited citizens and placed in a taxi and rushed to the Suddie Hospital.

He was examined by a doctor and pronounced dead on arrival. His body is presently at the Suddie Hospital’s mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
