Limlair man stabbed to death

A 25-year-old Corentyne man was last night fatally stabbed at Limlair Village, Corentyne.

Stabroek News was told, that Patrick Wilson, 21, of Lot 5 Limlair Village, Corentyne, sustained one stab wound in the region of his chest. He was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital during the wee hours of this morning, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect, who is also from the said village, has since been arrested and is assisting with the investigation.

According to information gathered, Wilson, his brother and a cousin were imbibing at a rumshop in the village, when the suspect walked in and an argument ensued between the men.

The suspect reportedly accused Wilson’s cousin of “talking he name” around the village, which led to a physical altercation between the two. Wilson allegedly then picked up a piece of wood and assaulted the suspect after which the suspect whipped out a knife and stabbed Wilson in his chest.

At this point, the owner of the rumshop intervened and ordered the men to leave his shop immediately.

This newspaper was told, that Wilson while on his way home collapsed on the road.

Wilson’s mother, Camela Surojmohan, 53, when contacted stated, that Wilson left home minutes before 11 am on Sunday. She noted that he was already imbibing at home before he left.

She said that around 11 pm yesterday she was informed that her son had sustained in a stab injury. She said, she immediately rushed to the scene, where she saw her son lying lifeless on the roadway.

She then proceeded to the police station where she was told that “we can’t touch the boy”.

According to the woman, she was told, that the suspect  was involved in a misunderstanding with the deceased’s cousin. “Me hear them did playing domino and then he come in and them start fight and me son go hug up the (accused) and tell he how you can’t go stab me cousin… and then the boy slap he and bore he”.

Wilson resided with his mother.
