Contracts for Bamia/Amelia’s Ward Nursery, Linden road works get greenlight

Cabinet has given its no-objection to the awarding of eight Region Ten contracts, valued in excess of $200 million, at a recent meeting, Director-General of the Ministry of the Presidency Joseph Harmon has disclosed.

During a post-Cabinet press briefing last Friday, Harmon said that a $51.8 million contract has been awarded to Simcon Engineering Co. for the construction of the Bamia/Amelia’s Ward Nursery School. The contract was awarded under the Ministry of Communities.

Several contracts for road works in the township have also been awarded.

Under the Ministry of Communities, a $16.7 million contract was awarded to S. Jagmohan Hardware Supplies & Construction for works to Bacchus Street, Wismar Linden; Associated Construction Services was awarded a $14.7 million contract for works to Homestretch, Christianburg, Linden; and B & J Civil Works was awarded a $37 million contract for works to Johnson Ring, Block 22, Linden.  Further, Handel Garnett Construction Firm has been selected to execute works on Main Street, Amelia’s Ward (South) to the tune of $37.9 million. Proctor Road, Kara Kara (Old), Linden, is to be rehabilitated by S. Jagmohan Hardware Supplies & Construction following the award of a $24 million contract.

Xl Engineering has won a $26.5 million contract to rehabilitate South Lane Road, Amelia’s Ward (South), Linden.

Additionally, under the Ministry of Agriculture, Eron Lall Engineering Works was awarded a $38.5 million contract for Erosion Control and Excavation Works at Coomacka.
