A Guyanese man was allegedly fatally stabbed by his cousin at their worksite in Lake Street, Ithaca, New York yesterday morning.

The victim has been identified as Kennan Orson Michael Paul, 24, formerly of Sophia, Greater Georgetown.  The suspect, Ithaca police said, is still on the run.

According to ithacajournal.com, both Paul and the suspect, Denzil Dexter Cummings, 28, were working for a contractor carrying out renovations at the Auden Ithaca which was formerly known as the Gunn Hill Apartments before the complex was sold in May.

Dead – Kennan Paul

The stabbing occurred around 10:38 am, Cornell University police said.

Police are still to determine the motive for the stabbing.

“It has been determined that these individuals are relatives, and this incident stemmed from a personal dispute. These men were in the City of Ithaca working as labourers for a construction company that was contracted by the Gun Hill Apartments,” said Lt. John Joly said in a news release. “This was not a random act of violence. This investigation is fluid, and we are actively following up on all leads,” the ithacajournal.com reported.

However, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office in their Facebook page said the Sheriff’s Office, Ithaca Police, and State Police are continuing in the pursuit and investigation of this incident.
