Jagdeo writes President asking for his and Cabinet’s resignation

Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo today wrote President David Granger requesting that he and his Cabinet resign forthwith in accordance with the Caribbean Court of Justice’s (CCJ) decision of June 18 in the no confidence motion case and the consequential orders of July 12.

In the letter released to the press, Jagdeo has also urged the President to issue a proclamation dissolving the 11th Parliament and fixing a date for regional and general elections not beyond September 18, 2019.

President Granger departed for Cuba today for a scheduled medical evaluation.

His departure came amid a deepening political crisis over the selection of a Chairman for GECOM and the launch of house to house enumeration.
