President travels to Cuba for scheduled evaluation

President David Granger has departed Guyana for Cuba for a scheduled evaluation following treatment for cancer earlier this year.

According to a statement issued yesterday by the Ministry of the Presidency, President Granger, who is accompanied by First Lady Sandra Granger, is to undergo evaluation by doctors of the Centro de Investigaciones Medico Quirurgicas (CIMEQ).

He was diagnosed with Non- Hodgkin Lymphoma last year after a series of tests by specialist doctors at the CIMEQ.

He is scheduled to return to Guyana this week, the statement added.
