Pinnacle Communications, the parent company of RCA Television, Mega 102.1 FM and 91.7 FM, on Friday honoured the top five Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) performers from the Essequibo Coast.

In a press release, the company, which is owned by Essequibo businessman Alfro Alphonso, handed over monetary donations to the top five students.

Riana Toney, the Anna Regina Secondary School student who secured 19 Grade 1 passes and is the country’s top student this year, received $100,000, while the other four top performers, Charrandat Narine, Premchand Rampersaud, Ushanna Mohan and Begum Baksh received $50,000 each.

Alphonso, according to the release, said he was impressed with the performance of the students and wanted to make the donations as an encouragement that will motivate other students across the country to reach for the top spots. He also said that his company will continue to support and promote the academic achievements of Guyana’s students.

The presentation was done as part of the regional ceremony to honour the top students and was held in the regional board room of the Region Two Regional Democratic Council.
