Soldiers, cops team up in Barbados

(Barbados Nation) The boots of the Barbados Defence Force (BDF) will be hitting the streets alongside those of the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) in a step to reduce crime and gun violence.

And the criminal element in the business community is being warned: the Government will be going after those who are importing the illegal guns through beefed up security/scanning measures at the Bridgetown Port.

Word of this from the man who now has responsibility for the police force and the preservation of public order, Attorney General Dale Marshall.

He was speaking during his first major press conference on Saturday since assuming those two portfolios on Thursday night.

In 12 reported cases of gunfire, three people have died and at least seven injured in two weeks.
