Jamaica: Alleged baby snatcher to undergo psychiatric evaluation

Twenty-seven-year-old Peta-Gay Ffrench

(Jamaica Gleaner) Peta-gaye Ffrench, the woman charged with stealing a day-old baby from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, is to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

Ffrench was further remanded when she appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court this morning.

She entered the courtroom smiling at court officials and lawyers.

Her attorney Rachael Donaldson asked the court for more time indicating that the case file is incomplete and that Ffrench needs to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

Presiding senior parish judge Vaughn Smith granted the extension and ordered the evaluation.

Ffrench is to return to court on March 13.

She was arrested on February 5 when she attempted to register the stolen baby at the Registrar General’s Department in Twickenham Park, St Catherine.
