Jamaica: Teacher plans to go public about alleged beating by school’s track team

Calabar High School on Red Hills Road, St Andrew, Jamaica

(Jamaica Gleaner) A teacher who is alleging that he was assaulted by members of Calabar High School’s track and field team, including two prominent athletes, is planning to go public at a press conference tomorrow.

The teacher claims that the school has failed to act since the December 15, 2018 incident.

He claims that in addition to the assault, which required medical attention, the students also damaged personal and school property.

He says his decision to go public has come about because of the school’s elevation of athletic glory over academic excellence.

He will outline his concerns at a press conference scheduled for 3:30 p.m tomorrow in St Andrew.
