Will Trinidadian step-mom stand trial for infant’s killing?

FLASHBACK: Marcia Mc Clean tries to shield her face as she is taken to the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with the murder of her stepchild, four-year-old Jenice Figaro

(Trinidad Express) The State has closed its case against Marcia Mc Clean who was charged with the murder of four-year-old Jenice Figaro.

Senior magistrate Cherril-Anne Antoine is expected to give her ruling later this month into whether Mc Clean will be committed to stand trial before the High Court.

Initial reports were that the child ate a meal of fries, garlic sauce and ketchup and complained of feeling unwell. She was pronounced dead at the San Fernando General Hospital.

An autopsy found she was beaten to death.

Mc Clean was charged that on November 24 2016 she murdered the child at the Williamsville home she shared with Figaro, the child’s father and her daughters.
