Trinidad PM for more medical tests

(Trinidad Guardian) Prime Min­is­ter Kei­th Row­ley who com­plet­ed one set of med­ical tests on Wednes­day, has to do two more sets of tests to­mor­row and next Mon­day.

And af­ter that he’ll have a good idea of his health sit­u­a­tion. That was the word yes­ter­day from act­ing Prime Min­is­ter Colm Im­bert, at Thurs­day’s post-Cab­i­net me­dia brief­ing.

Im­bert gave a sta­tus re­port on Row­ley who left for Cal­i­for­nia on Car­ni­val Tues­day for a check-up on his heart.

Doc­tors found soft ar­te­r­i­al plaque which was ob­served in 2016 had got­ten big­ger last month. Row­ley was told this re­quired im­me­di­ate at­ten­tion. He has ad­mit­ted he was delin­quent with deal­ing with the mat­ter due to work.

Im­bert said Row­ley un­der­went a se­ries of tests in Los An­ge­les on Wednes­day.

“We ex­pect to get the re­sults to­day. But LA is four hours be­hind T&T and as we speak (around 12.50 pm) it’s not even 9 am there, so I don’t have an up­date yet on the re­sults of the tests which were done. But we ex­pect to get that from him at some point in time,” Im­bert said.

Im­bert said Row­ley is go­ing to an­oth­er part of Cal­i­for­nia on Sat­ur­day for a sec­ond set of tests. Row­ley will al­so have a third set of tests next Mon­day. “He’s ad­vised me that af­ter the re­sults of the three sets of tests are in, he’ll have a good idea of his sit­u­a­tion.”

“He’s in good spir­its and I think the coun­try is hop­ing and pray­ing for a clean bill of health for the Prime Min­is­ter…(so) we hope and pray and wait for more in­for­ma­tion,” Im­bert added.

On oth­er is­sues, Im­bert said Cul­ture Min­is­ter Nyan Gads­by-Dol­ly wasn’t present at the brief­ing to com­ment on the Car­ni­val 2019 since she had the flu. Apart from pos­i­tive Car­ni­val feed­back he ac­knowl­edged some is­sues, adding Gov­ern­ment will try to pro­mote Car­ni­val all over T&T fol­low­ing calls from var­i­ous peo­ple.

Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Min­is­ter Stu­art Young al­so said land at Hen­der­son Street, Ch­agua­nas was ap­proved for the Mon­trose Vedic School which had sought this since 2011. Young said two sites had been avail­able for the school since 2013 and the Ed­u­ca­tion Min­istry was told of it, but noth­ing was done.
