Big bail for Trinidad cop charged with kidnap, imprisonment, rape of teen mom

(Trinidad Express) Police  inspector Christopher Fuentes appeared in the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with abduction, false imprisonment and three sexual offences against a 16-year-old mother.

Fuentes, 55, was granted $500,000 bail to over all the charges.

Fuentes’ colleague, Ag Cpl Dindial Joseph, also appeared in court charged with sexual touching. He was granted $80,000 bail.

They appeared before magistrate Brahmanand Dubay and the cases were postponed to September 11.

The 16-year-old girl was also charged with larceny of Fuentes’ police-issued Sig Sauer pistol loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition, wallet, and gold chain.

She was charged by Insp Motilal Juri of the Sangre Grande CID and was taken before the Children’s Court in Port of Spain.

Her case was postponed to April 8.

The offences were alleged to have been committed on March 15.

The senior officer has 35 years’ service and was on pre-retirement leave.

The corporal has 15 years’ service.
