Ann’s Grove/Two Friends farmers suffering from poor work by contractor

Dear Editor,

The farmers of  the Ann’s Grove/Two Friends Farmers’ Group hereby write to highlight our concern to the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Noel Holder about the manner in which drain clearing contracts are being awarded to a certain contractor preferentially, totalling $960,000 each month.

Further, when contracts are awarded to this contractor, the contractor is just doing cleaning and clearing of the Township between the first to the last house which only captures an area of three hundred  rods, and the area which the farmers use to gain access to harvest and bring out their produce is left unattended.

We therefore are requesting an investigation into the contract awarding method so as to enable a fair and transparent process so that works carried out will benefit the entire community. We the farmers are suffering because our farming areas are affected due to the trenches and roads being unattended to.

We would like to know why our drains and trenches were not cleaned from May to December 2018 even though payments were made.

We would like Hon. Minister Holder to also look into our matter in the village so that we can bring our produce out from our farming area.

Yours faithfully,
