Next General Election will usher in the beginning of change for Guyana’s politics

Dear Editor,

In his letter `Chris Ram should be one of the leaders of a new government, President Granger has been a disappointment and Ali is loaded with negatives’ (SN, 25th April 2019), Mr Emile Mervin makes some interestingly good points.

Very good letter Emile Mervin.

I think that Chris Ram is well suited as an unbiased advocate.

President David Granger means well but his leadership and decency have not reformed his compadres.

Irfaan Ali will do as Bharrat Jagdeo wants and not what the people deserves.

I have great hope that Lenox Shuman’s Liberty and Justice Party (LJP) will transform Guyana politics as neither the PPP/C nor the PNCR-led APNU+AFC will have an outright majority. In this respect, the next General Election will usher in the beginning of change for Guyana’s politics and Guyanese Society.

I definitely do not want Irfaan Ali as President with Bharrat Jagdeo as Puppet Master as it will lead to same-same PPP/C. What is needed is for Bharrat Jagdeo, Donald Ramotar and now Irfaan Ali to leave the PPP so that “New Blood” can be infused into the PPP. I have noted, with dismay, that Bharrat Jagdeo has indicated that he will not support a “newbie” as Presidential Candidate for the PPP/C. That is why One-Person, One-Vote exists which is why the PPP needs to change the way it selects its Leaders.

There is still time before the next General Election for the PPP to change its Presidential Candidate to a “Newbie”.

Yours faithfully,

Sean Ori
