Two title wins for Van Lange

National Cadet player Jonathan Van Lange ended his US tour with sensational wins at the Westchester Table Tennis Tournament.

Coming off his excellent performances at the recent Joola Teams and the AACCT tournaments he recorded some notable victories in the club’s monthly tournament,

Van Lange (1960) the highest-ranked Guyanese Cadet player, smashed his way to two titles in the U/2000 and 12 and Under.

In the Under 2000 event he defeated Laszlo Sramko 3-1 in the final after he had suffered a shock loss in the group stages.

Van Lange was also tested in the 12 and Under event but managed to answer the call by producing some breathtaking rallies.

Kristian Sahadeo (1510) the only other Guyanese young player in the tournament, reached the final of the Under 1750 category and the semi-finals of the 12 and Under, losing to Van Lange. He also reached the semi-finals of the Under 1600 division.

Van Lange also placed second in the Hi-Lo Doubles and reached the semi-finals in the Mini-paddle competition.

The pair returns home this week after spending more than five weeks in the USA.

The Westchester Table Tennis monthly tournament, one of the largest in the North East region of USA, saw a number of world-ranked players from all over the world competing.

In the Open final Kaden Xu (China) defeated former top 50 world-ranked player He Zhi Wen.
