Wins for DCC and UG in season opener

Defending champions, the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and the University of Guyana (UG), yesterday notched up wins in the season opener of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), New Building Society (NBS) second division 40-overs tournament.

 DCC defeated host Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) by 26 runs on the back of a solid contribution from national U19 batsman Sachin Singh which was backed up by a combined bowling effort. 

 DCC,  sent in to bat, were dismissed for 158 in the 39th over with Singh posting a carefully crafted inning of 69 before he was dismissed by seamer Rawl Merrell (2-38)…..
