After recently disclosing to Stabroek Sport that he is looking to make 2019 a banner year, the nation’s most exciting bantamweight fighter, Elton ‘The Guyanese Gladiator’ Dharry (23-5-1) got some good news yesterday.

Dharry, who is on a 20-fight win-streak mentioned that he will be back in the ring on March 8.

An opponent will be confirmed during the weekend but the 33 year-old stated “At this stage in my career, I have to prepare for anybody so I’m not really worried too much.”

Dharry did however, confirm that he will be fighting on the New Mexican  

and Uprising Promotions card which will be staged in Queens, New York at the Amazura Concert Hall.

The standout from the Gleason’s Gym and the Havoc Boxing stable said that he is excited to be back in the ring in six weeks after 10 months of inactivity. 

“It’s been a long wait, it’s a setback, but I gotta keep going. I’m a bit hyped to be back in the ring on March 8.”

The 5’ foot 6inch’ orthodox fighter who is rated NO.10 on the WBA rankings said that a victory on March 8  puts him a step closer to realizing his world title dreams.

“I’m still world rated and still on a mission to bring Guyana another world title and I’m not gonna stop until I get it,” said the USA-based boxer.

The Guyanese Gladiator said that he  is looking forward to the continued support of the strong Dharry Army which has been in his corner lending support.

Note: As of last year, Dharry held the WBC Caribbean

(CABOFE) Bantamweight Title, Guyana National Bantamweight Title, IBF Intercontinental Title and WBU Americas Bantamweight Title. He is currently aiming to add world champion to his resume. (Emmerson Campbell)
