A blistering century from National youth all-rounder, Nigel Deodat steered Blairmont Cricket Club to a crushing 137-run victory over West Berbice in the Berbice Cricket Board/ New York Business Group under-19 tournament.

Playing at Bush Lot, Deodat’s 134 consisted of 16 fours and one six before he was run out while fellow national youth player, Seon Glasgow stroked five boundaries on his way to 40. Blairmont was catapulted to 365/7 from their 50 overs with Marvan Prashad coming in and hammering 82 runs with 12 boundaries and Deinauth Persaud clobbering 51, dispatching the bowling into the boundary on eight occasions.  Shamar Angel found little success with the wickets of the two openers in his first two overs but went wicketless for the rest of the innings, closing on 2-34.

 In reply, West Berbice were rattled for 229 with the top order blown away. Navindra Persaud showed his class with an innings of 84 that saw him smashing half dozen fours and a pair of sixes. Nick Singh was the only other batsman to settle with a composed 48.

Prashad returned to snare 3-48 while Deodat (2-20) and Glasgow (2-22) got among the wickets.
